Orlice Fort

Orlice Fortress is located on the outskirts of the town of Letohrad. Its origins date back to the end of the 13th century, but it gained its Renaissance appearance no sooner than three centuries later. However, the local nobility moved to a more modern chateau after 1650 and the fortress was modified and used for farming purposes. Nowadays, the fortress is owned by the company EYWAN s.r.o., which has refurbished the whole premises. Visitors can look around the historic rooms of the Renaissance fortress and explore the underground Gothic parts at the same time. On the upper floors, there are interesting exhibitions comprising a contemporary printing workshop, products originating from the now non-existent glassworks and archaeological finds. Children in particular will appreciate the large collection of stuffed Czech fauna species presented under a fairy-tale name of Magic Forest. On the outer walls, you can admire the well-preserved figural sgraffito work. But it does not stop at that. You can also visit the restaurant with a roofed terrace here that offers some spectacular views of the surroundings. If you are planning on a longer trip, there is nothing easier than staying at the adjacent hotel, where you can also take advantage of the on-site wellness studio. As soon as they arrive at the premises, the smallest visitors, but not only them, will be welcomed by Rozárka and Kristýnka, the Euroasian Eagle Owl and the red-nosed Coati Mundi living in an aviary in the courtyard. There are also evening tours organised during the high season. Stop by this cultural monument and explore the unusually well-preserved building parts encompassing various historical styles, plus much more.
